Bea Monde Society Presents “Oxo Monochrome”
Hello to all my readers and subscribers ♡
A Fashion Blogger’s Behind-the-Scenes Volunteer Experience
Earth Day has always represented intention, reflection, and responsibility, and this year, I had the opportunity to experience all of that through fashion. I volunteered behind the scenes at Oxo Monochrome, an eco-focused, two-day fashion presentation presented by Beau Monde Society in collaboration with Fashion En’Vie. What unfolded was more than a runway event; it was a celebration of sustainable high fashion, cultural diversity, and creative community.
From the moment I arrived, I could feel the energy. There was no frantic chaos, no stiff formality, just purposeful movement, soft conversations, and a shared respect for the artistry happening in the room.
Fashion with a Purpose: Earth Day Meets High Style
Oxo Monochrome was intentionally held on Earth Day, aligning fashion with environmental consciousness. The entire presentation centered around ethical fashion, recycled materials, and sustainability, without sacrificing creativity or edge.
As a fashion blogger and beauty creative, I’ve attended my share of fashion events, but this one felt different. The vibe was laid-back yet elevated. It was fashion-forward without being intimidating, stylish without being wasteful. Everyone from designers to volunteers to models understood that this was about more than clothes. It was about impact.
Volunteering backstage gave me a whole new appreciation for the work that goes into a fashion presentation. Makeup artists were busy prepping models, adjusting looks, and ensuring each face aligned with the monochrome aesthetic of the show. The focus was clean, intentional beauty that complemented the designs rather than overpowering them.
One of the standout sponsors was Makeup Pro NYC, whose professional-grade products were used to bring the designers’ visions to life. Watching makeup artists work under pressure yet with such calm precision, was inspiring. It reminded me why I love this industry so much: collaboration, creativity, and trust.
Backstage moments are raw and real. You see designers making last-minute adjustments, models supporting one another, and volunteers stepping in wherever needed. It’s fast-paced but deeply rewarding.
A Global Designer Lineup
What truly set Oxo Monochrome apart was its international designer lineup, bringing together West African, East African, and Japanese creatives all under one sustainable vision. Each designer was carefully selected to reflect innovation, cultural storytelling, and eco-conscious design.
Featured Designers

Seeing these collections up close before they ever touched the runway was a reminder of how powerful fashion can be when it’s rooted in purpose..webp)
Press Preview & Community Energy
The Press Preview, featuring music by Teff and hosted by Al Malonga, set the tone perfectly. It felt intimate, creative, and celebratory. Conversations flowed easily between designers, press, creatives, and guests. There was no hierarchy, just mutual respect and appreciation for the work being showcased. As someone who loves storytelling, this environment was everything. It wasn’t about exclusivity; it was about connection.
What Oxo Monochrome Taught Me
Volunteering at this event reinforced why sustainable fashion matters. It’s not just about recycled fabrics or ethical sourcing; it’s about slowing down, being intentional, and honoring the people behind the garments. Oxo Monochrome proved that high fashion doesn’t have to come at the expense of the planet or inclusivity. You can have bold design, diverse representation, and responsible production all in one space. For me, this experience was grounding. It reminded me why I started blogging in the first place to highlight meaningful moments, amplify creative voices, and share stories that deserve to be told. Oxo Monochrome wasn’t just a fashion presentation; it was a movement. Being behind the scenes allowed me to witness the heart of sustainable fashion in action. From makeup chairs to runway rehearsals, every detail reflected intention and evolution. If this is the future of fashion, I’m excited to be part of it.
